  No Longer Mail Unemployment Weekly Statements

  Currently whenever an individual is receiving unemployment payments they receive a weekly statement basically informing them of how much money was deposited into their bank account and how much money is left in their claim. This statement should not be mailed to individuals who file their weekly claim online; instead the statement should be available online. Many companies, including state agencies no longer mail out ...more »

  Currently whenever an individual is receiving unemployment payments they receive a weekly statement basically informing them of how much money was deposited into their bank account and how much money is left in their claim. This statement should not be mailed to individuals who file their weekly claim online; instead the statement should be available online. Many companies, including state agencies no longer mail out payment stubs with their paychecks. The state should only mail out statements to those who do not have a computer/internet. It not only saves money, but also paper.

  Repeal Washington State's Prevailing Wage Law and Stop Catering to Labor Unions

  Do not require a "prevailing wage" for bidders of government projects. Stop catering to labor unions. This artificially inflates the price of projects up to 3 times. There are many people who can live comfortably and without state assistance for much less than the prevailing wage. These people are very qualified and skilled, simply out of work.   Do not require a "prevailing wage" for bidders of government projects. Stop catering to labor unions. This artificially inflates the price of projects up to 3 times. There are many people who can live comfortably and without state assistance for much less than the prevailing wage. These people are very qualified and skilled, simply out of work. In many instances there will be two or three people willing to work for the cost of 1 labor union employee or 1 "prevailing wage worker”. By doing away with the mandated prevailing wage, unemployment will drop, state funded unemployment benefits will drop, state spending will increase, tax revenue will increase and government projects will cost at least a third less. STOP CATERING TO LABOR UNIONS.

  Stop penalizing the unemployed for taking college or trade school classes

  End the exclusion from unemployment of college students. To grow the economy we need to grow the skills of the work force. Besides a lot of students work either full or part-time while being college students, so it is discriminatory to penalize them for going to college (or trade schools).   End the exclusion from unemployment of college students. To grow the economy we need to grow the skills of the work force. Besides a lot of students work either full or part-time while being college students, so it is discriminatory to penalize them for going to college (or trade schools).

  Unemployment insurance was originally intended to support seasonal workers such as in road construction during the non-construction season, but few people actually enjoy being ideal and many construction workers are not good at budgeting seasonal income with year around needs.

  Student loan as benefit of unemployment insurance

  Part of unemployment insurance should be to qualify for a student loan to improve skills to reduce the chances of becoming unemployed again in the future.

  Unemployment Compensation

  Make unemployment compensation conditional on having a high school degree or completing a high school degree. Too many unemployed lack the necessary skills to find work in a changing environment.
